City employee and Wallis Supporter Resorts To Profane Name Calling

Wallis supporter Barbara Massey resorted to name calling against a Goleta resident. This occurred at the Goleta City Council meeting afternoon session on Oct 15, 2004. Ms. Massey is an active Wallis supporter and was seen at the 2004 Goleta Lemon Festival where she worked all day at the Wallis table in the political tent.

Ms. Massey is also a Goleta City DRB member. Good Goleta citizens will be shocked (and rightly so) by this behavior of a City employee, but according to those who have observed Hawxhurst, Brock, Wallis and their cronies, this is just business as usual. This behavior also harmonizes with actions seen by other Wallis supporters such as sign vandalism of Wallis opponents. Does Wallis approve of this from her supporters? Perhaps not, however there is no escape from the wise old saying "attitude reflects leadership".

The profane and derogatory name-calling occurred when the Goleta citizen walked past Ms. Massey to make public comment on a council meeting agenda item. When Ms. Massey was questioned "Did you just call me an @## *&^!" Ms. Massey answered "Yes".

The only time the citizen had previously spoken to Ms. Massey was with a friendly hello and a smile at the 2004 Goleta Lemon Festival two days before the council meeting.

It should also be noted that Ms. Massey is the same DRB member who's rude comment in the 9-21-2004 meeting insulted the architect when she stated the "design is abominable".
