According to the applicant the city refuses to provide information on the source of this letter, and the attorney refuses to reveal who the 'concerned citizens' are who are making these apparently false statements. This is business as usual for the City of Goleta, as this is the 2nd such letter related to this applicants project. Why should you care?
The City's response to the first letter (first in allowing it to even be considered in the DRB meeting, and secondly being sited by DRB members) in effect seems to confirm that anyone, anywhere in the city, can oppose any project, for any reason regardless of the merit simply by having an attorney send a letter. No matter were the people in opposition to a project live, the City will apparently listen if the project does not meet the approval of the cronies.
