"Attitude Reflects Leadership" (or lack thereof).

The word "abominable" is used because it comes directly from the DRB (Design Review Board) meeting on 9-21-2004.

DRB member makes a rude comment telling the architect his "design is abominable". Hear it for yourself. This same DRB member is heard earlier in the meeting showing complete ignorance regarding a sewer easement issue. It seems the abomination here is the fact that tax dollars are so blatantly wasted by having people on the DRB who have no idea what they are talking about, and are rude on top of it! It should not be a surprise however, look at the city council members who put these DRB members in power, and you're likely to find a similar level of incompetence.

DRB member shows no regard for the occupation of the owner as a truck driver Hear it for yourself. You might also catch the statement "hard to sacrifice" which is corrected to "hard to create a modification". Tell us please city council and DRB, what "sacrifice" is it for the city to give a Goleta resident a home that suits their needs? Goleta apparently has a mandate that everyone must fit the same mold, and that mold is cast by a handful of people who are abusing their power to make the lives miserable of people they don't like for one reason or another.

DRB member contradicts himself when he talks about the orange tree. In the beginning of the tape all members confirmed that they visited the site, yet the members comment indicates he has no idea what the orange tree looks like. Not to mention he seems quite insensitive regarding the life of the orange tree, or the amount of time it takes to grow a good tree. Hear it for yourself.

No "box-on-box" designs in Goleta. In a 2 minute span the "box-on-box" criticism twice (and can be heard more times elsewhere). Hear it for yourself. How is it that becoming a city suddenly residents no longer have the right to enjoy the home of their choice?

If you've ever to attended a Goleta city DRB meeting you know that much time is wasted mettling over seemingly the most ridiculous minutiae you could ever imagine. On the 'good-for-nothing' theme this meeting is a prize contender with a seemingly endless and long-winded discussion over the size of the letters on a sign! More wasted tax dollars.
