Wallis (along with Hawxhurst and Brock) Send $1,000,000 To Riverside
Did you know the City of Goleta has spent $1,000,000 of your tax money in Riverside, CA?
The Goleta legal budget has already gone from $650,000, to $800,000 to $1,000,000, and there is no end in sight. Wallis, Hawxhurst, Brock and Connell have been spending Goleta tax dollars to fight lawsuits like drunken sailors. Many residents don't know that the City attorney is in Riverside, so these legal expenses don't benefit the Goleta economy in any way.
It's bad enough that tax dollars seem to be used so irresponsibly, but to make matters worse, the city council makes decisions about what they think Goleta citizens want, apparently without listening to input. When Goleta residents do voice their desires on an issue the council ignores the vote of the majority and sides with the minority who have the same razor thin view they do.
examples (more to come)
Are you aware that since spending $1,000,000 on legal battles the Goleta City only has about $200,000 in reserves? What happens to the financial viability of Goleta when they legal bills are bumped the next notch to 1.2 Million? (possibly even more if they climb according to the past rates).
City council has already depleted the coffers running their private war on development. What happens they the run the well dry? Brock, Wallis and Hawxhurst apparently have very little fiscal sense. Goleta residents should know that when the money is gone, the City will have to start pulling more money from the pockets of Goleta residents.
To further confirm the lack of fiscal sense of the current city council, consider this; the city is sorely understaffed, and implementation General Plan will require more funding to hire more staff. Where is the extra money needed to implement the General Plan going to come from? If you live in Goleta, prepare to crack open your nest egg to support the City Councils drunk-on-power spending spree.
