Is Jack Hauxhurst a 'control freak'?
Reading Hauxhurst's response1 (dated July 13, 2004) to an SBCAG Staff Report, one would have to wonder if this was written by someone with a serious control problem. In 16 short consecutive paragraphs, the term "local control" is used 10 times and "local jurisdiction" once. Control is mentioned 11 mentions of control in less than one page of text!

Here is one of the more interesting comments written by Hauxhurst that clearly reflect a hostile attitude toward homeowners that can also be found copiously in the public record.

Housing policy #1: ... "direct local agencies to permit" ... is not a way to respect local control.

You don't have to observer the city council for very long and it will be very clear that Jack Hauxhurst seems to want more and more control over your life. People who have been around Jack for any significant period of time seem to indicate they can't keep track of how many times Jack has push for more and more control. Watch a video clip of Jack stating "I want to make it clear that I want the city to control...". This is from the Oct 4, 2004 city council and city planning meeting. Attend some council meetings and see for yourself.

Yet another related item that supports the excessive city control issue is the fact that the city council and city planning agency are the same exact people. Here is a video clip of the roll call at the Oct 4, 2004 "joint meeting" of city council and planning agency.
